In past years, several British Bangladeshis have made it to the list every year. But as of Wednesday night till this News written,no British Bangladeshis have been named in this year's list,so far. The fact that not a single Bangladeshi has made it to the list this year has sparked debate in the British Bangladeshi community.
During the previous Conservative government's tenure, several Bangladeshis were on the list every year. But the first list of officials in the time of the Labour Party government has not included any Bangladeshi names. However, many say that this list is more appropriate than the ones in the past few years.
Muzibur Rahman Jashim, a Labour Party councillor for Newham Council who has been elected several times, said he had not heard of any Bangladeshi names on this year's list. Croydon Council's Labour Party councillor Mohammad Islam also said the same to Daily Dazzling Dawn.
Although there have been rumors of getting help from third-party for applications and lobbying to get on the list for years, many people who have not been seen working for the community and have no contribution have been included in the list in the last few years.
Gender parity is also evident in this year's honours list, as women make up 49% of all winners (591 honorees), underscoring the UK's dedication to diversity and inclusion. Reaffirming their important role in influencing the future of the country, the honoring of these exceptional people not only recognizes their individual accomplishments but also acts as motivation for the larger South Asian community in the UK.
