On Monday, freshman Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) sharply criticized pro-Trump influencer Laura Loomer for her recent comments that seemed to advocate violence against American Muslims. Loomer, who identifies as a "proud Islamophobe," urged non-Muslims to arm themselves against their Muslim neighbors following President Donald Trump's strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Loomer's weekend post advised Christians and Jews in cities with large Muslim populations to be armed, claiming "Jihadists will try to harm anyone who they view as an infidel or an apostate." She also stated that "We have over 2 million Iranian proxies living in our country."

Ansari condemned Loomer's statements as "textbook hate speech," calling them "disgustingly racist and dangerous." She added that Loomer was advocating for mass deportations of Muslim immigrants and for Americans to arm themselves against anyone perceived as being from the Middle East.

In response, Loomer doubled down, dismissing Ansari's concerns as coming from a Muslim and stating that "millions of Americans voted for" Trump to "address the Muslim Problem." Ansari quickly refuted Loomer's assumptions, clarifying that she was born in Seattle to U.S. citizen parents and is agnostic, not Muslim. She stressed that such "assumptions, accusations, and threats" are dangerous and can incite violence.
