The day of a level result is a bad one; it can feel make-or-break. The grades in that brown envelope have the power to alter your entire life's course, regardless of whether you are sure you have the credentials to enrol in your top choice university, are completely screwing up, or are just not interested.
If this Thursday's events don't go as planned, there are many more possibilities available, since hundreds of universities, including 14 Russell Group universities, offer degrees through Clearing. Despite Clearing 2023 actually opening over a month ago on July 5th, there are still nearly 2,000 courses at Russell Group unis up for grabs. If you’re looking to get as far from home as possible, there are universities in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland all with availability. You don’t need to apply for a Clearing course ahead of results day but it’s a good idea to have a look now ahead of time as places will fill up very fast on Thursday morning. If you have your heart set on going to a Russell Group university, these are all the Russell Group unis currently offering courses through UCAS Clearing 2023:
University of Birmingham
University of Birmingham has 244 courses available through clearing this year, including engineering, history, medical science, classics and media degrees – amongst many others. To see all courses available, click here.
Cardiff University
Cardiff University has even more courses available through Clearing 2023 than last year with a whopping 246 courses currently available on UCAS. You can see the fill list here. Whether you’re into the arts or sciences, with so many courses available there’s definitely something for everyone, no matter what you’re interested in. One of only two Russell Groups universities in Scotland, Glasgow has 20 courses up for grabs in Clearing 2023. However, apart from environmental sciences and sustainability and nursing, all of them are PGDEs and therefore only open to graduates. More information can be found here.King’s College London
