Photos on Saturday showed a crime scene in place outside the entrance to Valentines Park, which lies at the end of Brisbane Road. The entrance to the park had also been taped off by police.Superintendent Steve Freeman of Northamptonshire Police said the force was alerted on Wednesday by a member of the public, with concerns for the welfare of a woman from the Northamptonshire town of Corby, around 90 miles north of London.
They launched an urgent investigation, which led to the womanâs body being found in the boot.A crime scene has reportedly been in place at a house in Sturton Walk on Crosbyâs Lincoln Estate for four days.
A neighbour told the Northamptonshire Telegraph the house had had around 12 people living in it last year and at one point was subject to noise complaints.
They said the number of people living there has since reduced, and that it is home to people of various European nationalities.
They reported hearing a commotion earlier in the week, telling Northamptonshire Telegraph she heard âbanging coming from the houseâ then heard the gate slam.
"The way that gate slammed I knew something had happened,â she said. âSomeone took off quickly.
âI had heard banging coming from the house and then they obviously just legged it.â
The residential street in about half-a-mile long, beginning at main road Ley Street and intersecting several other residential streets, before coming to a dead end at popular green space Valentines Park, which it runs alongside for 500ft.
Supt Freeman said: âDetectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team and the Metropolitan Police have been working at pace to establish the circumstances that led to the womanâs death.
âThe investigation is ongoing and there will be continued police activity over the weekend in various locations, including Corby and Ilford.
âAlthough we believe that this was a targeted incident and there is no wider risk to members of the public, extra patrols will be taking place in Corby in the coming days for reassurance purposes.
