Following a violent assault in Plymouth that left the victim hospitalised, police announced they were looking for a suspect.
Officers were summoned to the West Hoe area at 8:55 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Devon and Cornwall police, after someone was discovered gravely hurt in the roadway.
Paramedics treated the patient on West Hoe Road before transporting them to the city's Derriford hospital.
West Hoe Road was closed, according to the force, and there was still a significant police presence there while authorities looked for a male suspect.
It was thought that the two individuals knew one another.
Det Ch Insp Dave Pebworth said: “We have a large police presence in the area and enquiries are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspect.
“We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the wider public. We would ask members of the public to please stay away from the West Hoe area of the city while we continue our investigation.”
