Thousands Set to Protest Against Elon Musk in London’s Tesla Takedown Demonstration

A large-scale protest against Elon Musk is set to take place this weekend as the Tesla Takedown unfolds in central London.

The demonstration follows Musk’s controversial actions since being appointed Donald Trump’s efficiency czar, where he has aggressively cut government services in the U.S. His leadership of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency has resulted in mass job losses and proposals to dismantle the Department of Education.

Musk has also sparked outrage in the UK for his involvement in British politics, having reportedly considered donating millions to the Reform Party, supporting far-right activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, and backing calls for Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer to resign.

Leading the London protests is John Gorenfeld, a California native now living in the UK. Speaking to The Express, he said:
"Seeing people take a stand in the U.S. inspired me to get involved. It’s important for people to realize they’re not alone. Ignoring these issues would be wrong.”

As a result of Musk’s controversial actions, many Tesla owners have expressed regret over purchasing their vehicles. Some have opted to sell their electric cars, while others have affixed stickers to indicate their vehicle was bought before Musk’s political radicalization.

Musk’s remarks and actions have also had a financial impact on Tesla, causing the company’s market value to dip below $1 trillion. In 2024, Tesla’s Model Y ranked as the fifth-best-selling car in the UK, with 32,862 registrations, but public backlash could significantly reduce sales this year. In Europe, Tesla’s sales fell 45% year-over-year, from 18,161 units to just 9,945.

What Protests Are Taking Place in London This Weekend?

The global day of action for Tesla Takedown is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, with additional demonstrations in Bristol and Glasgow.

In London, the protest will begin at 11 AM at the Tesla dealership in Park Royal, near Acton.

A statement from the organizers reads:

*"Elon Musk is undermining democracy on a global scale, using the wealth generated from Tesla to fund his agenda. We are taking peaceful action against Tesla to stop Musk.

Sell your Teslas, divest your stock, and join the picket lines. We are strategically impacting Tesla’s stock price to curb Musk’s influence. Stopping Musk is essential to protecting lives and safeguarding democracy. The stakes have never been higher. We cannot rely on politicians, the media, or the courts—this is up to us.

Tesla Takedown is a nonviolent movement. We do not condone violence, vandalism, or destruction of property."*

With multiple protests planned across the UK, including major cities like London, Bristol, and Glasgow, organizers are urging people to stand against Musk’s influence and corporate power.
