Dhaka, June 18, 2025 — The British High Commission in Dhaka hosted a vibrant celebration to mark the official birthday of His Majesty King Charles III, honouring his decades-long global leadership in climate action, sustainable development, education, healthcare, and the arts.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, welcomed an esteemed gathering of guests to the event, which showcased a blend of British and Bangladeshi traditions through cuisine, music, and a ceremonial toast in honour of His Majesty and the enduring friendship between the UK and Bangladesh.
The evening’s Chief Guest was Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Honourable Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources. The event drew participation from a wide cross-section of society including members of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, foreign diplomats, political figures, and leaders from the business, academic, media, social development, arts, and sports sectors.
In her remarks, High Commissioner Cooke highlighted the chosen theme of the celebration — climate resilience and sustainable development — reflecting both His Majesty’s lifelong commitment to these causes and the strategic alignment with the UK-Bangladesh relationship.
“It is my privilege to celebrate His Majesty’s official birthday with our friends, partners and sponsors in Bangladesh. We chose the theme of climate resilience and sustainable development for the event. These are issues which His Majesty has consistently championed, and which are a vital part of the UK/Bangladesh partnership,” said High Commissioner Cooke.
She further reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh on its journey toward a democratic, inclusive, and prosperous future.
This year’s King’s Birthday Party celebrations were made possible through the generous support of HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Unilever, Airbus, OxfordAQA, Menzies Aviation, and Le Méridien.
The event not only honoured the UK’s monarch but also celebrated the strength and shared vision that defines the UK-Bangladesh bilateral relationship.
