Mohammed Afzal, 19, Named as Victim in Bury Stabbing; Five Arrested

Police have named Mohammed Afzal, 19, as the victim in a fatal stabbing that occurred in Bury on Friday night. The attack, which took place in a car park on Market Street, has led to the arrest of five men, all aged 19, on suspicion of murder.

Afzal suffered multiple stab wounds and tragically died from his injuries. The investigation, led by Greater Manchester Police (GMP)'s Major Incident Team, has been moving quickly. Following the initial arrests of three men, two additional suspects were taken into custody. One of the initial three has since been released on bail as inquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton of GMP thanked the public for their support and information. "Officers have worked non-stop... resulting in the arrest of five people on suspicion of murder," he said. The police are continuing their investigation and are providing support to Afzal's family.
