A man accused of plowing into crowds during Liverpool FC’s title parade is now facing 24 additional charges.
Prosecutors say Paul Doyle, 53, from Croxteth, Liverpool, drove his Ford Galaxy into large groups of fans celebrating on 26 May, injuring more than 130 people, including children.
He was initially charged with two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, two counts of attempted GBH with intent, and one count of dangerous driving.
Liverpool Crown Court heard on Thursday that six of the new charges involve babies — including one aged six months and another aged seven months.
The latest indictment, which was not read out in court, now lists 31 offences relating to 29 victims aged between six months and 77 years.
Doyle now faces 19 counts of attempted GBH, seven counts of GBH with intent, three counts of wounding with intent, one count of dangerous driving, and one count of affray.
Appearing via video link from prison, Doyle was in tears during the brief 20-minute hearing. He did not enter any pleas, and the case was adjourned until 4 September, when he is expected to do so.
