Police intercepted a stolen Ford B-Max at a railway crossing near Retford and detained five teenage suspects on Monday, concluding a high-speed pursuit in less than fifty minutes. Nottinghamshire Police officers seized the vehicle shortly before 12.30pm on Monday 21 September after the multi-purpose vehicle was taken during a residential burglary in South Leverton. The five youths, aged 17, 16, 16, 16, and 15, were apprehended across surrounding farmland and gardens following a brief foot chase, marking one of the swiftest vehicular recoveries recorded across Bassetlaw in recent months.
The incident commenced at 11.40am when homeowners in the rural settlement of South Leverton alerted emergency dispatchers to the theft of the Ford B-Max. Patrolling officers travelling in an unmarked transit van received automated location updates alongside immediate sightings from local patrols operating across north Nottinghamshire. The pursuit team relocated to Retford, where operational observers caught sight of the suspect vehicle navigating the urban outskirts.
Tactical intervention occurred when the Ford B-Max came to a halt behind lowered safety barriers at the Sutton Lane level railway crossing. All five male suspects were formally processed at an area custody facility on suspicion of residential burglary and the theft of a motor vehicle.
